Description
Share encouragement and holiday cheer with service members by creating handmade Christmas cards for The Stockings Project. Each year, the organization sends approximately 3,000 filled stockings to troops around Christmas, helping service members feel remembered and appreciated while they are away from home.
Participants will decorate each card and add a thoughtful message such as “Merry Christmas from Texas,” “Thank you for your service,” or “Wishing you joy this holiday season.” The Stockings Project collects cards and stocking supplies throughout the year, so this project can be completed during any season.

- Blank cards
- Christmas stickers
- Markers
- Step-by-step instructions
- Holiday message and design ideas
Each kit is designed for a group of up to 10 volunteers. This festive project is suitable for individuals, families, schools, businesses, holiday gatherings, and other groups. Volunteers of many ages can participate.
How it works:
- Pick up your prepared project from the Volunteer Center of Lubbock.
- Decorate each card with stickers, drawings, and festive designs.
- Add a cheerful, appropriate message for a service member.
- Return the completed cards to the Volunteer Center of Lubbock for delivery to The Stockings Project.
Each card offers a personal reminder that the recipient’s service is appreciated and that someone back home is thinking of them during the holidays.
Community Service Verification: If you are completing this project to fulfill community service requirements, the finished project must be returned to the Volunteer Center of Lubbock. VCL staff must receive and review the completed items before service hours can be verified. Projects delivered directly to another organization cannot be verified by VCL.
