Description
Add color, creativity, and personality to a community garden by painting cheerful plant markers. Participants will create a base design, label each marker with the name of a plant, and add colorful illustrations or encouraging artwork.
Completed markers can be donated to community gardens, schools, neighborhood projects, or organizations with outdoor growing spaces. Suggested nonprofits and drop-off options will be provided in the project instructions.
Your project includes:
- Wooden or plastic garden markers
- Acrylic paint or paint pens
- Paintbrushes
- Step-by-step instructions
- Plant label and design ideas
- Suggested nonprofit drop-off options
Each kit is designed for a group of up to 10 volunteers. This project is suitable for individuals, families, schools, businesses, and other groups. No gardening or painting experience is needed.
How it works:
- Pick up your prepared project from the Volunteer Center of Lubbock.
- Paint each marker with a base color or decorative design.
- Add the name of a plant and any cheerful artwork you would like to include.
- Allow the markers to dry completely.
- Select a suggested community garden or nonprofit and deliver the completed markers.
Each marker helps make a shared garden more useful, welcoming, and full of personality.
Community Service Verification: If you are completing this project to fulfill community service requirements, the finished project must be returned to the Volunteer Center of Lubbock. VCL staff must receive and review the completed items before service hours can be verified. Projects delivered directly to another organization cannot be verified by VCL.
