Youth Advisory Board

What is the Youth Advisory Board?
The Volunteer Center Youth Advisory Board provides opportunities for young people to become proficient in the ethics and mechanics of board service. YAB will help to train young people in the areas of trusteeship, governance, community service, and organizational leadership in order to develop lifelong habits of giving and service.

What does the Youth Advisory Board do?
-Advises the Volunteer Center of Lubbock on youth programming
-Acts as a catalyst to make change in our community
-Participates in meetings, service projects, and special events
-Learns how to serve on a nonprofit organization board
-Actively seeks membership on nonprofit organization boards

How can I participate?
You must meet the following requirements to participate:
-Enrolled in grades 9 through 12
-Meet with staff from the Volunteer Center
-And attend at least 75% of meetings.
All meetings are at the Volunteer Center of Lubbock Conference Room, 1706 23rd St.,
and are held one Thursday night a month at 6:00 p.m.
